ISO Sees Increase in Ticket Sales

Inside Indiana Business posted this press release today announcing that during the 2005-2006 indoor season, single ticket sales revenue increased by 23 percent, including nine more concerts and presentations than the previous season.

From the release:

Total subscriptions grew by 3% compared to last year, and single ticket sales revenue increased by 23% including nine more concerts and presentations (events that do not include the Orchestra) than the previous season. First Indiana Bank Yuletide Celebration set a record in gross revenue at $1.46 million in sales - 12% higher than the year before with the same number of performances.

President and CEO Simon Crookall said, "I'm pleased with the overall growth in our ticket sales and especially in the St. Vincent Family Series, which increased in revenue across the board. When children receive a gateway experience to the arts at a young age they are more likely to participate in the arts as adults. Obviously, families in central Indiana regard the ISO's Family Series as an important part of their children's cultural education."

Symphony boasts budget surplus

Reported in today's INDIANAPOLIS STAR in an article by Whitney Smith...

After battling budget deficits for years, the ISO today reports its second consecutive annual budget surplus. Though modest in relation to the orchestra's most recent annual operating budget of $24.5 million, the 2004-2005 fiscal year's $10,820 surplus is worth more to the ISO than just a dollar amount. ISO media relations manager Tim Northcutt told Smith:
"Without a doubt, we're proud of what we accomplished," Northcutt said, "but we're cautiously optimistic. We know that the challenges are always going to remain, whether it's ticket sales or whether raising money for the annual fund."
